Deposit Operations Specialist
Position Description The Deposit Operations Specialist I, under the direction of the Deposit Operations Manager, is responsible for general operational activity, while maintaining compliance with all laws, regulations, and industry standards. This role requires a moderate level of technology expertise to support the efficient delivery of banking services and process improvements.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provides general support for customers on Cash Management Services (ACH Origination, Wire Transfer, and Remote Deposit Service), utilizing relevant banking platforms and digital tools.
- Responds to general transactional account questions and service requests from customers and staff (bill pay, mobile deposits, P2P, eStatements, etc.), demonstrating proficiency with online banking systems and mobile applications.
- Works with external vendors to report/resolve customer problems and inquiries, often using ticketing systems or vendor portals.
- Reviews and identifies improvements in Deposit Operations’ processes, procedures, and forms used for banking services, leveraging technology to enhance user friendliness and efficiency.
- Promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.
- May participate in the onboarding/training of new Deposit Operations staff, including instruction on technology platforms and digital banking tools.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
- Follows 1st State Bank’s policies, procedures, compliance, and security practices.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Moderate proficiency with banking software, online banking platforms, and digital tools relevant to deposit operations.
- Knowledge of the Funds and Files Transfer Services and Operating Rules.
- Working knowledge of various bank regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Teams; ability to learn and adapt to new technology platforms as needed.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Loan Specialist
Position Description The primary purpose of the position is to generate loan documentation and service originated loans. The specialist works closely with loan department staff to ensure all information and documents are collected and stored in a timely and accurate manner.
Position Summary This position will establish a basic understanding of loan policy, with little to no experience previous, while continuing to develop in the Loan Specialist role. As Loan Specialist I, this position will assist in documenting/booking loan transactions, working on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role, create and maintain relevant databases.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepares loan closing documentation.
- Collects and processes required paperwork for loan applications and closings.
- Assists loan officers in the management of customer relationships by ensuring all required customer information is updated in a timely manner.
- Completes all necessary loan reports accurately and within scheduled deadlines.
- Maintains assigned databases with accurate and timely information.
- Performs due diligence on existing files as needed.
- Performs post loan reviews to ensure adequacy of documents and follow-up on exceptions.
- Prepares and delivers document packages for participations, investors, and third-party servicers.
- Performs clerical and administrative duties as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Mortgage Processor
Position Description The primary purpose of the position is processing residential mortgage and consumer loans. The Mortgage Processor / Underwriter I will process mortgage files from application to close, ensuring compliance with appropriate Bank and secondary market investor standards.
Position Summary This position will understand the mortgage process, handle several loans in varying degrees, with the ability to work independently and as a team, to meet Bank and Mortgage goals and deadlines. This position will have the knowledge of and ability to order required documents and verifications, basic understanding of how to review credit reports and have proficiency with appropriate computer software for work processes.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform administrative duties of real estate mortgage loans within the guidelines of secondary market and regulatory compliance standards, and Bank Policy
- Facilitate quality control audits
- Process various mortgage related loan applications, such as home equity, VA, RD, MSHDA, conventional, construction, consumer and/or commercial property purchases, for closing
- Manage loan lifecycle, ensuring files are complete, organized and processed for servicing.
- Sell loans on secondary market.
- Monitor centralized mortgage email account, as needed.
- Assist internal and external customers with mortgage loan payoff information and other account inquiries as appropriate.
- Gather and review appraisals, employment and income verifications, flood and hazard insurance, condo questionnaires and other documents for completeness and accuracy, prior to loan closings.
- Reviews and assembles accurate loan information in a timely manner to obtain applicable loan approvals.
- Communicate with Mortgage Originators to resolve problems or questions regarding application information.
- Knowledge of Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and portfolio loan guidelines for automated underwriting software.
- Prepare and distribute mortgage disclosures.
- Input all consumer loans into the mortgage origination system.
- Complete Condo Questionnaires
- Prepare closing package and send to title company – Approve closing disclosures.
- Complete decline and incomplete files
- Conduct HMDA and Post Close Loan reviews.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
- Follow all 1st State Bank policies, procedures, compliance, and security practices.

Personal Banker (Teller) (Midland Branch)
Position Description The primary purpose of the positions within the Personal Banker Job Family is to contribute to the overall success of 1st State Bank by delivering exceptional customer service. These positions are the face of 1st State Bank and will ensure the care of our customers is the top priority in each interaction. Personal Bankers grow to be knowledgeable and have a deep understanding of both business and personal accounts and services, in order to provide real advice and solutions, tailored to the customer’s individual needs.
Position Summary This position will establish a basic knowledge and understanding of both business and personal accounts and services, with little to no experience previous, while continuing to develop in the Personal Banker role. As Personal Banker I, this position will possess strong customer service skills. Process transactions in Teller Capture. Count and balance a cash drawer. Work closely with customers to resolve issues and deepen relationships.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Complete customer transactions accurately
- Maintains and balances a cash drawer
- Assists with, and simplifies problem resolution
- Assists with branch operational activities and responsibilities
- Actively works to retain and deepen existing customer relationships by understanding their real needs and providing real solutions
- Contact customers in various ways, including telephone, email, and in-person visits, for follow-up and for pursuing new opportunities
- Completes scheduled training and reviews updates to stay current with policies, procedures, compliance and industry changes
- Understand electronic banking options and assist customers with online banking, bill pay, and mobile banking
- Identifies and refers business opportunities to business lenders, cash management, mortgage lenders, and public funds
- Supports a friendly and inviting atmosphere at the branch for fellow employees and customers
- Facilitate the cleaning needs of the branch location, providing a safe and sanitary environment for employees and customers. Tasks will include, but not limited to the basic cleaning of vacuuming, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, bathrooms, etc.
